A small family with a big vision for the land and talents that God has entrusted to them. Their heart’s desire is to be obedient to God’s call of encouraging and equipping families within the body of Christ.
“For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry,
for the edifying of the body of Christ:” Ephesians 4:12
The Scott Family lives on 140 acres in the Ozark foothills. Early in their marriage, Sam and Amy knew that God put a particular and peculiar calling on their lives. They saw the need for God’s people to be ministered to and desired to use every resource available to provide a place for God’s people to come, to be refreshed and renewed in the spirit of their minds.
Sam wears many hats and is a mechanic and builder by trade. Another aspect of their ministry is to provide practical, hands-on training for God’s people in the areas of mechanics, construction, and alternative energies. The purpose for this aspect of the ministry is to aid in the work of missionaries abroad, as well as in the daily lives of God’s people. God put this ministry on Sam’s heart when he spent time on the mission field in Mexico and saw the needs of missionaries first hand. There is not much opportunity in our culture to be exposed to these hands-on trades, it is the Scott’s desire to facilitate education and exposure in these areas of experience.
They assumed God would have them work hard, buy land and build cabins as they could afford it. Their goal was to use their own resources to fund this whole ministry, but God had other plans. The urgency God put on their hearts to begin this work was undeniable and the need for God's people to come alongside them became apparent. By faith, Sam stepped away from his small engine repair shop and Amy stepped away from her job as an insurance agent in order for them to both serve full time in the home and be fully invested in building this faith endeavour. They are now working full time on their farm, hosting families, occasional workshops and staying busy with the preparations needed to build the cabins and training facilities, as God supplies the materials and resources required.
"For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again." 2 Corinthians 5:14-15
Sam's parents, Preston and Joyce Scott, also live on the farm and are co-labourers in this faith endeavour. None of this would be possible without their faithfulness and steadfastness in the Lord.
"The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way." Psalm 37:23
